Author Jerry Norcia was born in San Francisco in 1936. He spent four years in the United States Air Force before starting a twenty-year career with a major airline. He started his career as a mechanic and was promoted to an in-flight supervisor position and flew for eight years. When he retired in 1979, he and his lovely wife Barbara moved to Oregon and bought a restaurant. Barbara continued to work as a flight attendant based in San Francisco, flying international routes until her own retirement in 2003. In their small Cessna 172, Jerry would fly Barbara from their home on a small airport to the Eugene Airport where she would catch a 737 for the ninety minute commute to San Francisco. Jerry has one daughter from a previous marriage. Jerry and Barbara live in Creswell, Oregon, where they eagerly await the annual visits of their three granddaughters.
